Moral Farce Movement

The Moralists, like zombies, never really die.

After all, who can ever really defeat and kill their arguments? Who can breach the logic of their glittering generalities? Who wouldn't really have a MORALITY?

But wait, what is “morality”? Is there a science behind morality? It seems. “Mores”--the stuff of morality--would seem to have material origins.

It is said that morality can be seen either...
1.descriptively to refer to a code of conduct put forward by a society or, some other group, such as a religion, or accepted by an individual for her own behavior; or,
2.normatively to refer to a code of conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational persons
.
In short, morality is constituted by “guides to behavior that involve, at least in part, avoiding and preventing harm to some others.” Morality as a “code of conduct” is informed by one's Philosophy. It requires or presupposes answers to certain basic questions about the world and the life in it. In other words, morality embodies these basic concerns in Philosophy:
Metaphysics-->Study of Existence->What's out there?
Epistemology->Study of Knowledge->How do I know about it?
Ethics------->Study of Action---->What should I do?
Politics-->Study of Force-->What actions are permissible?
Esthetics---->Study of Art------->What can life be like?

For the so-called Moral Force Movement, there is a need to identify a national “transformational leader” for the 2010 elections given Corruption in Philippine society. But how did they arrive at such brilliant analyses? Who can really argue with them on that?

Every election in this country has included Corruption as a top issue. Who does not want to battle corruption? But what is corrupt? Who is corrupt? How do we 'measure' all these? Who is to measure all these? Who is to tell us what we should do and how we should vote?

Who are the people behind the Moral Force Movement aside from Chief Justice Puno? Are they all truly “moral” people as their movement suggests? By the way, what is a “movement”? How many have to be involved in actions for actions to be called a movement?

Are the 8 personalities at the core of the Moral Force Movement to tell us what is “Moral”?

I hope not. Otherwise, we will have nothing but another Moral Farce Movement.

Beware. The march of social zombies with glittering generalities!

  1. Morality comes from God. Else, you are right, there is no basis for it. I believe the government does crackdown on corruption... BUT ONLY ON THE ONES THAT ARE NOT IN THEIR "Group". That is what happened with Gloria... she let her husband get away and also a bunch of others cause they are her "friends" and even partners.

  2. I think nobody follows anymore the code of conduct in the government. Isn't it that corruption is already part of the system? Meaning, the only way for the government to gain back their morality and place corruption out their mainstream is by removing themselves and starting a new one not composing of their own. No one's really corrupt. It has just been a part of the system for too long and so the people became corrupt. When you deal with politics, expect there's the word "corrupt" in it anywhere you go.

  4. Morality plays a big part in politics so i really pity our government officials who turn down morality to go to corruption. Seeing THOSE people waste the goodness of whats of our country is really hard to accept since they are the ones who are suppose to help the development of our country.

  6. The morality of man is based upon one's belief. Morality is diffirent all over the world it depends on the culture and the religion of that particuar place. Who can tell us what morality is? Not the government, not the people of the Moral Force Movement, Nobody.

  7. I think morality comes only with a true heart. A lot of people would say 'I am doing this for the sake of the others. . .' But how do you know that is the best for all? What made you say so? It is quite funny to say that you are doing this for others when in fact you can't do something 'moral' for you own? I hope the government would not turn down morality over their greeds. It is your conscience that tells you what is practically right and wrong. I hope people would not throw away their conscience over something materialistic. I believe "What is essential is invisible to the eye."

  8. For me, morality is knowing what is right from not. I guess the problem with morality of politicians is that they do not know what is right for this country. Well, they might know, but they do not care. They just care about themselves. They only want fame, power, and money. They would do whatever it takes to be in control. Thus, morality is out of politician’s vocabulary. We really shouldn’t expect much from them.

  9. MORALITY IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN JUDGE OR VALUE EASILY!
    so they can't say that they are MORAL!
    Only God can declare morality. and they are obviously not GOd,

    therefore.. they dont have the right to claim the title.!
